Help Support Natchwoolie!

Many of you have probably heard through Ravelry or the Phat Fiber blog, but our own Brenda of Natchwoolie lost her husband earlier this week. As she has a full fiber farm to run and many, many things to handle right now, we’re doing our best to support her. If you can, buy from her shop – she has beautiful, high quality natural fibers all grown right on her own farm. Check out her website, you can see some pictures of her sweet animals.

Spindies is trying to do our part. If you visit the store right now, you will see several items up for auction from several different venders. There are tops from Moonwood Farm, eXtreme Spinning, some drop spindle kits from Silver Sun Alpacas,  and sample roving and batt club subscriptions from H.A.Y. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Natchwoolie to help support her farm during this very difficult time.If you can, please bid on the items or directly support her shop – we know she greatly appreciates it.

Silver Box Pictures!

Just in case you really want to see what you missed in the box this month. ;) The silver boxes sold out really fast! Thanks so much to our awesome customers. We do still have one very lonely orange box…check out the rest of the Spindies store too, some of the vendors have been stocking up!

This time instead of linking every single shop (which takes a loooong time with this many), I’m just going to point out that all of these shops are linked in the sidebar right next to this post. :) So if you need something, they’re just a click away. What’s that? Oh no, we’re not enablers here, of course not. Why do you ask?

Enjoy the pics, and stay tuned for a series of interviews from various Spindies Artists. The first one will hopefully be up in a couple of weeks, and the series will probably span a few months.

On top were some gorgeous sterling Lincoln locks from Fluffington Farms.

“Stormy Skies” mini art batt from eXtreme Spinning! So soft and squishy.

Some gooorgeous kettle dyed panda top (60/30/10 merino, bamboo, nylon) from H.A.Y., colorway Arctic Tundra!

The yummy Fuzzy Bunny “Sparkling Granite” sample, 70/15/10/5 wool, alpaca, carbonized bamboo, and nylon.

A lovely and sparkly sample from Polyartgirl Designs, made from bamboo, black diamond bamboo, and angelina.

Beautiful and fluffy carbonized bamboo from woolie bullie. This stuff is the perfect complement to almost anything!

A beautiful (and gigantic!) batt from Moonlight and Laughter, called Silver Bells and made from superwash BFL and firestar.

Alpaca and silk – it doesn’t get much better than that! From Silver Sun Alpacas.

This squish-a-ri-fic batt is from Dragonmaille Designs, called Painter’s Greys, and consists of alpaca, mulberry silk, carbonized bamboo and BFL.

It’s angora!! In the Misty colorway Natch Batt from natchwoolie, 50% angora and 50% wool. Yummy.

A to-die-for mini Moonbeam from Moonwood Farms, colorway Mithril. (The little LotR fan girl in me just swooned!)

And one big happy picture of the whole box!

Silver Bells…

Okay, so it’s a little late. But most of you made really good guesses on this month’s box! Our theme is actually SILVER. I tried really hard to find a picture that looked more sliver-y than white, and since there were several people who said “silver blue” here and on Rav, I think I succeeded.

The new box goes up on Saturday at 1 PM EST! We don’t have a picture of the inside of a box yet, but the Silver Paintbox listing is up in the Spindies store, and here are a couple teaser photos!

I’ll post again as soon as I have that lovely peering-down-into-the-box pic. :) Hope everyone is having a snug January!

Happy New Year!

The Spindies would all like to wish you a wonderful and happy New Year! Are you spinning in the New Year, or partying with friends or family?

Thank you to all our customers who have helped to make this such a wonderful start for us. We’ve sold out of all the boxes but the orange, and we’re thrilled! Hope you all have been just as delighted with your Paintboxes. :)

What About the ORANGE?

We picked a color that’s not so popular among spinners and knitters for our October box – orange. While it’s definitely used more in the fall season, even then there are many people that cringe at the sight of it – or at the thought of spinning it! But orange can be beautiful…and no one says you have to wear it. :)

Orange combines the energy of red with the happiness of yellow.

Just think of how this beautiful picture could be interpreted.

Oranges unsettles a lot of people because it doesn’t blend into the background. Orange is right here, right now. While it’s not usually aggressive, it doesn’t allow itself to be ignored. Maybe this is why so many of us are afraid of using it…it’s hard to tone down!

Orange is also warmth.Who hasn’t enjoyed the orange flashing of fire on a cold winter evening?

We all need a stretch now and then. Orange allows us to try new wings, and don’t we all like a new view?

Looking Inside…

The PlumWine box! These are all gone now, but for those who didn’t manage to get one, we’re giving you a look at all the beautiful samples that were inside.

This is the lovely Fluffington Farms sample, a bamboo/carbonized bamboo blend called “Tipsy.” It’s sooo soft!

Natchwoolie’s adult mohair roving sample, colorway “Cambrusco.”

Polyartgirl Designs lovely bamboo, colorway “Queen of Hearts.”

More bamboo, this time from Moonwood Farm! Lovely deep purple, it’s hard to capture on camera.

Sparklies! And alpaca! Blended with some mohair and bamboo. This is a loooovely little batt called “Frosted Plums.”

Oh-so-soft superwash BFL, from Moonlight and Laughter. This is such a beautiful fiber and colorway, “Plum Perfect,” I want a bed made out of it.

“Plum Pudding” handpainted Columbia top from woolie bullie. This color is super hard to capture on camera, it’s a deep, dark plum with spots of chocolate brown. Mmmm.

A blend of superwash BFL and merino, this batt is so fluffy and squishy and soft! From Dragonmaille Fibers.

Merino wool from Hampton Artistic Yarns, colorway “Zinfandel.” Lovely tones ranging from deep pink to lilac to rich purple. Total eye candy.

Gorgeous squishy and soft batt from eXtreme Spinning. I could sleep on this one too! Colorway “Merlot.”

Yummy looking 85% wool/15% mohair from The Fuzzy Bunny. This reminds me of a lollypop, but the colorway is “Berry Wine!”

We have such a talented group of artists contributing to this box! While the Plum Wine boxes are all gone, there are still several of the Champagne boxes in stock! Don’t miss out, I know it’s all beautiful. :) The boxes are also available in our Etsy store to make it easier on our customers!
