This week I asked one of my favorite fiberistas, Craftypuppylover, to write about her experience with the Sunshine Compliments box. Here’s what she had to say:
Being an occasional Phat Fiber box contributor and purchaser, I had heard of the Spindies boxes, but never purchased one. But when I heard there was going to be a yellow “Sunshine” compliments box I had to have one! I’m on a big yellow kick right now, and I have always been a fan of semi-solids. The opportunity to use multiple fibers from multiple artists in approximately the same colorway was exciting and I’m glad I got in on the fun! Here’s my lovely box contents.
The contents go as follows:
SUNSHINE by Wild Hare Fiber Studio with BLF, Corriedale, Mulberry Silk, Tencel, Angelina, & Firestar
SUNSHINE- Bohoknitterchic Spins- merino, bamboo, angelina
SUNSHINE by The Fuzzy Bunny with Polwarth, Bamboo Rayon, & Milk Protein Fiber
SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDERS by Moonlight & Laughter with Merino, Rambouillet, Milk, Tencel, Firestar, Angelina, Silk
SUNSHINE & LEMONADE by H.A.Y. with Wool, Tussah Silk, Milk Protein Fiber, Bamboo, Mohair, Alpaca, & Firestar
JUST DUCKY by Dragonmaille with Superwash Merino, Bamboo Rayon, Alpaca, Seacell
I didn’t want to spin each batt entirely back-to-back, so I split each one into 3 and spun them in sequence. Here I am at the Northwest Regional Spinner’s Association fall retreat at Camp Bear Paw new Newport, WA, spinning away on my Babe.
What a blast! I got to see old friends and meet new ones. I didn’t get much spinning done but I did manage to get a single spun from my spindies box. My original plan was to do a two-ply, but I think the yarn looks great as a single and is just the right yardage for a Wonky cowl, designed by bohoknitterchic , one of the spindies contributors! It’s even the October SAL/KAL over in the Spindies ravelry group .
Here she is, 116 yards, dk/worsted.
I could never pick a favorite, all of the batts were fun and I even got to try some new artists. Thanks for a great box and a fun spin!
